Another Billionaire Dies in Bizarre Accident....68th Richest Man in the World Dead In Alaska

It seems like so many powerful, rich (young-ish) men are dying at a more rapid rate and in some rather bizarre ways.

Maybe that’s not the case, I don’t know the exact statistics, but it sure seems that way.

We’ve heard of billionaires leaping from high-rise buildings, the CEO of Texas Roadhouse just committed suicide, we lost Kobe Bryant in a plane crash, and of course, who can forget Jeffrey Epstein…and the list goes on.

As a matter of fact, the world’s 68th richest man just died in Alaska in another freak accident.

Petr Kellner, the wealthiest man in the Czech Republic and founder of investment group “PPF” died during a weekend ski outing in Alaska.

Kellner was only one 56-years old and was among five other people – including the pilot – who died on Saturday when their helicopter crashed into the side of a mountain, about 40 miles north-east of Anchorage.

From ABC News

A spokeswoman for the exclusive Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, where the crash victims were staying, said Mr Kellner had been a frequent guest since 2012.

Authorities mounted a search for the helicopter Saturday night after the aircraft was reported overdue for its return, and located the wreckage a short time later.

The victims’ bodies were recovered on Sunday.

A National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) team found that the helicopter, an Airbus AS350B3, crashed about 4.5 metres below a ridgeline and slid 274 metres down the slope before coming to rest, agency spokesman Eric Weiss said.

Photos from the crash site, an elevation of about 1,676 metres, showed the aircraft largely intact.

NTSB member Tom Chapman told a briefing in Washington on Monday that investigators had yet to interview the survivor.

“The area is very rugged, both in terms of terrain and in terms of weather conditions,” Mr Chapman said.

The odd thing is, the plane is largely intact. You’d think it’d have been smashed to smithereens.

It literally looks as if it just gently touched down.

Amazing that 5 people were killed in that plane.

Here are pics from the crash scene:

One person survived the crash — a 48-year-old Czech man named David Horvath.

Horvath is in serious but stable condition at an Anchorage hospital.
