Back in February, we reported that CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin had announced that she would be leaving the network this month. Now, on her way out the door, Baldwin is holding nothing back as she airs the dirty laundry of the liberal network by calling out the lack of women in key roles there.

“The most influential anchors on our network, the highest-paid, are men. My bosses, my executives, are men. The person who oversees CNN Dayside is a man, and my executive producer for 10 years is a man. So I’ve been surrounded by a lot of men,” Baldwin lamented while appearing on the Ms. Magazine podcast.
“I was surrounded by a lot of dudes,” she added.

Baldwin was then asked how she feels male leadership at CNN impacts the way women’s stories are told.
“I know I, personally, fight for women’s stories,” Baldwin said, going on to add that she keeps a poster from her CNN series “American Women” hanging in her office as a reminder that she was able to complete the project.
“I got told no a lot and I still managed to do it,” she continued.

Though Baldwin admitted that CNN is getting better “little by little” at putting women in power roles, she thinks a lot more progress needs to be made in that department.
“It’s getting better but we still have a bit of a ways to go,” she said. “I want more women in the room.”
Back in 2018, The Wrap analyzed weekday programming on various networks and concluded that CNN didn’t have as many female anchors as competitors.
“CNN has significantly fewer women serving in visible on-air roles than either Fox News or MSNBC,” The Wrap reported at the time.
Baldwin announced back in February that she would be leaving the network after thirteen years. This came after she was taken off the air in the lead-up to the 2020 election, with Jake Tapper taking her time slot.

“As the election gears up, the political maestro @jaketapper will hold down my hour and his for the coming weeks. Wish I was with you, but I’ll see ya on [TV] on the flip side of the election,” Baldwin tweeted back in October, indicating that this was not her decision.
