Colin Kaepernick Trashes NFL’s New Social Justice Campaign as “Propaganda”

Since taking his first knee in 2016, Colin Kaepernick has been a constant advocate for anti-racism protests around America. With his last game coming in 2017, Kaepernick is now attacking the NFL over its new social justice platform. The former 49ers quarterback claims the organization’s equality focus is nothing more than “propaganda” because his fellow supporter Eric Reid remains unsigned to a team.

In the wake of the killing of George Floyd, the NFL announced a bold anti-racism and police brutality campaign in every major city. This included Black Lives Matter slogans, community projects, social justice demonstrations, and even playing Lift Every Voice, which is the black national anthem, before some of the games on opening week.

None of the NFL’s efforts to change the narrative appeared to work as Kaepernick tweeted, “While the NFL runs propaganda about how they care about Black Life, they are still actively blackballing Eric Reid for fighting for the Black community. Eric set 2 franchise records last year, and is one of the best defensive players in the league.”

For those unaware, Eric Reid was the first football player to join the kneeling protests with Kaepernick. The pair eventually filed a complaint against the NFL. The complaint suggested the players were being blacklisted from the league due to the influence of NFL owners and President Trump.

Tensions escalated among the parties involved, but the players and the NFL finally settled with Reid going to play for the Panthers, where he started every game with a record of 130 tackles and four sacks. He would play there until being released in March of 2020.

As for Kaepernick, he remains to have a future in the NFL, but according to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, it might be his own doing. In an interview, Goodell said, “I would love to see him in the National Football League, I know there’s tons of fans who would love to see him in the National Football League but where Colin sits right now in America is where he is playing football or not, he started a conversation on a national level.”
