Conservatives Calling on POTUS to Fill Justice Ginsburg's Now Vacant Seat Immediately

Looks like President Trump will be going to go for it. According to Mitch McConnell and an ABC News report:

The shocking news just came down that Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died.

We wish her a restful peace and send her family our prayers.

We may not have agreed with her politics, we respect her service and her fight.

As the news trickles down, conservatives are calling out to President Trump to fill the vacant seat immediately.

“Democrats said last week that they would employ the nuclear option if they take a majority. There are no norms here anymore. No choice for @realDonaldTrump and @senatemajldr. They have to make a nomination immediately.”

“President Donald Trump must nominate a new justice to the Supreme Court, and Mitch McConnell and the Senate must confirm that nominee this year. The McConnell rule does not preclude election year replacement when the Senate and White House are controlled by the same party.”

“Considering Democrat plan to contest election regardless of the result, and potential for the legal cases to go to SCOTUS, Trump has to nominate, and McConnell has to confirm, an RBG replacement BEFORE the election Cannot leave possibility of 4-4 decisions on election result”

“The actual precedent – set by Joe Biden in 1992 – was that a split Senate/White House shouldn’t nominate anyone. We don’t have a split in 2020. Trump should nominate a smart, minority woman with a strong Constitutionalist orientation.”

“This is the most important thing. Conservatives always want to be respectful, and while that’s admirable, we have to use the power we have. Dems would absolutely rush a new justice in. I think we should too.”

“Get to know this name and her story now because you’ll be hearing a ton about her for the next 7 weeks: Amy Coney Barrett – who will almost undoubtedly be President Trump’s choice to fill the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg’s seat.”

“Remember the Kavanaugh hearings. This is war.”

Of course, even if Trump decides to go this route, the usual cast of characters will be a problem, Murkowski, Romney, and Collin.

If President Trump doesn’t go this route, 2020 just turned into the biggest knock-down-drag-out fight in politics.

Both sides will be energized to vote, and the turnout will be high, because the stakes have never been higher.
