Heritage Responds To Border Patrol Censorship

The Heritage Foundation has responded after Twitter allegedly censored a video depicting the work of Border Patrol agents.

The 2017 video discusses the important role horses play in a border patrol officer’s work. The Daily Signal re-posted the video, but instead of viewing the content, Heritage said some users saw the following warning: “The following media includes potentially sensitive content.”

“The photographer who captured images of @CBP on horseback this week confirmed the agents DID NOT use their reins as whips,” The Daily Signal tweeted. “Now it’s time for @SecMayorkas to STOP HORSING AROUND WITH BORDER SECURITY and reverse his ridiculous suspension of this historic program.”

Allegedly, Twitter initially denied censoring the video, but later admitted to the censorship without saying whether it was the result of an algorithm or human error. Heritage said the video is important and contradicts the Biden administration’s bizarre narrative on the border crisis:

“Unfortunately, far-left politicians on Capitol Hill and their allies in the media and popular culture have embraced a false, debunked narrative about mounted Border Patrol agents in recent days to distract the public from the Biden administration’s open-borders policies and the subsequent historic border crisis the administration has created,” Mark Morgan, former acting CBP commissioner and Heritage visiting fellow, said. “These lies and smears against the men and women of the Border Patrol are disgusting, and it’s completely unacceptable that companies like Twitter are helping advance those lies by censoring the truth.”

Rob Bluey, Heritage vice president of communications and executive editor of The Daily Signal, said the censorship was targeted:

“Twitter’s decision to suppress The Daily Signal’s video on the Border Patrol’s Horse Patrol Program is unacceptable and another eye-opening example of Big Tech’s censorship.aThe Daily Signal produced this video in 2017—four years before the Biden border crisis—to educate Americans about the important role of horses in the Border Patrol’s work,” he said. Yet now, when such information conflicts with the left’s preferred narrative, Twitter’s censorship police stepped in with a flagrant case of anti-conservative bias.
