Tom Brady has never been an “activist athlete,” and he’s certainly not going to start being one now….for Joe Biden, of all people.

He’s not going to get overly political, especially after the “MAGA hat in his locker” moment that made headlines for 5 years, for crying out loud.
Which I think is one reason why he didn’t go to the WH when the Patriots won while Trump was in office – he had a “friendship” with Trump and it would have placed Brady under a political microscope that he didn’t want to deal with.

Going to the WH under Joe Biden is not controversial at all – nobody takes this guy seriously – and I personally don’t see anything wrong with it. I don’t see it as a “traitor” move by Brady, at all.
Maybe I’m looking at it from a PR standpoint, and not an emotional place, but it just didn’t rile me up.
But I can tell you this much, Brady’s trip to the WH with the Buccaneers caused a real sh*storm from a PR perspective – it was messy.
Bizpacreview reported that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady appeared to swing political while making a joke about the election results with President Biden during a White House visit for the team on Tuesday.
The team was at the White House to celebrate their 2020 Super Bowl championship against the Kansas City Chiefs. Everyone was all smiles as Brady took the podium on the South Lawn to thank Biden for his hospitality.

“These guys are an amazing group of men,” Brady said. “It didn’t look great there at one point. We were 7-5, struggling a little bit, as the president alluded to. But we found a rhythm, we got on a roll,” Brady remarked. “Not a lot of people, you know, think we could’ve won, and in fact, I think about 40% of the people still don’t think we won,” he cracked. “You understand that, Mr. President?”
In character, Biden took a moment to reply while the crowd laughed at Brady’s joke. Finally, the president replied, “I understand that!” Brady cracked. “You understand that, Mr. President?” Biden then interjected: “I understand that.”
Brady continued by quipping that people started to call him “Sleepy Tom” after he forgot which down it was during a game in Chicago. The joke was in reference to Trump’s “Sleepy Joe” nickname for Biden during the 2020 campaign. At 43, Brady is the NFL’s oldest playing quarterback.
“Personally, it’s nice for me to be back here,” Brady noted. “We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was. I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing, and they started calling me ‘Sleepy Tom.’ Why would they do that to me?”
The situation is confusing because the left thinks Brady was trashing Trump with what he said, and showing support for Biden, while some on the right think Brady was trolling Biden, and the other half think he’s a traitor who slapped MAGA in the face.
I didn’t really see what Brady did as a “slap in the face to MAGA.”
But others did and they’ve already “canceled” him.
If anything, I thought it was amusing that he even addressed the controversial election in a “late-night talk show” kinda way. Let’s face it, a lot of people don’t believe Biden won and I don’t mind when that’s pointed out, ever – and neither should you.
And I was amused by the “Sleepy Joe” stuff, Brady mentioned because it’s actually truer – and far more apparent today than it was back when Trump first said it.
I just thought it was kind of funny jokes about a poignant moment in time – and was neither good nor bad. Just observational and kinda tongue-n-cheek.
Breitbart saw it a different way. They reported that Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady stabbed Donald Trump in the back and mocked MAGA voters during a visit to Joe Biden’s White House. This is quite an about-face from Brady’s years of pretending to be Trump’s friend.
During his visit to Biden’s White House to celebrate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2021 Super Bowl win, Brady engaged in some back and forth with Biden to mock those who believe that Biden’s election was rife with fraud.
I guess you should watch and judge for yourself.
You can watch the video below:

The fine folks over at Red State chimed in as well – and they tend to have a take more in line with mine, but they’re also “confused….” and you can’t really blame them.
It didn’t look great there at one point. We were 7-and-5, struggling a little bit, as the President alluded to, but we found our rhythm. We got on a roll. Not a lot of people think that we could have won. In fact, I think about 40 percent of the people still don’t think we won.
Biden, grinning like a teenage girl whose boy band crush was finally paying attention to her, chimed in, “I understand that!”
Do you understand that, Mr. President? And personally, it’s nice for me to be back here. We had a game in Chicago where I forgot what down it was. I lost track of one down in 21 years of playing, and they started calling me Sleepy Tom. Why would they do that to me?
Obviously, that was a reference to Trump calling Biden “Sleepy Joe.” And clearly, Brady’s first comment referred to a percentage of people who believe that Trump won the election – a belief that is being bolstered thanks to the ongoing audits in Georgia and Arizona. But is it really throwing shade at Trump, or was Brady testing out his stand-up comedy chops?
Brady never publicly endorsed Trump’s campaigns but told numerous outlets that he supports Trump as a friend but didn’t always agree with him and that he didn’t want to get into any political discussions:
“I don’t want to get into it, but if you know someone it doesn’t mean you agree with everything they say or they do. You have a lot of friends in your life. I think there are things that are based in your own dealings with someone that is a personal dealing, not a public dealing. Because you have personal experiences.”
Imagine that. If those are still his feelings, Tom Brady is doing life right, being able to separate political disagreements from friendship.
Are those still his feelings? Despite Brady’s comments today, it’s quite possible that the two are still friends. According to a February 2021 article, Brady hasn’t said they’re not friends, and as recently as August 2020 he told Howard Stern that while they were still friends the “political aspect…was uncomfortable” for him and that he wouldn’t undo the friendship.
The whole situation is a mess from the standpoint that Tom claims he doesn’t want to be “political” and now, after being rather confusing, he appears very political to everyone.
But I don’t think Tom was trying to be political.
I think he was trying to be “funny” and both sides read way too much into it.

The whole situation was awkward and probably got more attention than Tom thought it would.
Maybe he shouldn’t quit his day job – perhaps “comedy” isn’t Tom’s “thing” after all.
